Hello Yaris members,

My girlfriend drives a yaris p1.

The other day i detailed her car and she wanted clean headlights. They were yellow LOL.

So another job for me.

Everyone know how a faded headlight looks like.

Staps:

1. clean the headlight.

2. Tape around the headlight for bodywork protection

2. wetsand the headlight with P2000

3. wetsand P2500

4. wetsand P3000

5. Polish the headlight

6. Give it a wax for protection.

You have done a good job there and gone to a lot of trouble, I am only posting this to say there is an easier way, Brasso!

thnx Geoff. But an easier way? Tell us.

The only easier way i know is some stuff that won't help at all and the headlights will be faded again soon. Or another way to get a new UV coating. But that is very expensive.

This is the most effective way and cheap! only cost me 10 min to do bought headlights. Wax not included but that can you do while waxing the car.

You have used very fine emery paper and thus avoided any scratches, I am suprised it only took you ten minutes I would have thought it would take much longer. Brasso is much milder and will polish the residue off without risking any scratching, I have heard T cut recommended but it is far too harsh. Brasso is very good for removing stubborn marks from paintwork too, the army used to use gallons of the stuff!

You have to use fine emery paper. Otherwise the fading don't go away. When using only polish it will be back in a matter of time. To be sure everything is gone you have to wetsand.

Some people use p1000 till p3000 for a headlight that is very faded. They have small scrathes. But that is the beauty of polishing. ;)
