Petrol Door Won't Close

Hi

I'm unable to close my petrol door as the latch won't catch. The fuel door opened as normal (pressing button on driver's door handle). Can anyone tell me if there should be a visible pin or like, as at the moment there doesn't appear to be anything there! If I look at the catch, the hole looks approx 1" deep, with no pin appearing when I lock the car etc.

I was filling up in the dark so never noticed anything falling out (so I suppose this can't be discounted). The car is an 03 Avensis T3s.

Thanks for any replies in advance!

Cheers

There is solenoid operated piston that retracts when the button is pressed. Sometimes it sticks but it can be accessed by removing the boot trim on the nearside. You could try a squirt of WD 40 to start with.

Hi Fitter

Thanks for reply.

I've checked fuse first and all ok there. So I've got my hand in for a feel at the solenoid but how can I get the trim removed to remove the solenoid?

Cheers!

Remove the boot floor liner and then the side trim is held in with clips. This will relveal the mechanism.
