Do you mean when you engage Park by pressing the Park button? If so, then the car will rock slightly and probably move about an inch forward or back (not 6 inches) and this is perfectly normal.

If you mean the car moves when you engage the Parking Brake (foot operated hand brake), then the car shouldn't move at all.

It is good practice to engage both Park and the parking brake when on a slope as this stops the car rocking on the parking pawl. This rocking is not good long term, though this applies to all automatic transmissions.

Since new, mine has always moved when on an incline and the Parking brake (foot operated) is applied. It somehow passed the first MOT despite that, so I'd assumed that it was normal. Interesting, that it may not be.

I do only apply the Parking brake to the first click, but even when I've tried putting it on harder the car still moves when I ease off the regular brake.

If like broadband speed, "up to" includes maybe an inch or 2 inches, I've never bothered to measure it, then yes.

That's what we're all here for. Glad it answered your concerns.

As mentioned though, pushing P does not operate the parking brake and should not be relied upon to hold the car in place on anything other than flat ground really. But yes, with the transmission in Park then the car can be rocked forward and back slightly as it is a mechanical lock within the transmission and the play in gearing, driveshafts etc will all contribute to the car being able to rock slightly.

I also park on a slight incline. After reversing back into the space, I apply the footbrake. When I switch the power off it feels like the body has gone forward about 2-3 inches. I suspect the wheels do not move at all; it's just the shift in power from 'pulling' backwards, to not pulling at all.

I've never liked the idea of auto gearbox parking brakes. I know Americans use these all the time, but the thought of the whole cars weight on a small pawl holding the gearbox makes me think it will snap off or wear. As the inner handbrake drum in the rear disc cools down, it does at least grip more due to contraction.

Does the Gen 3 have this inner drum ?

I thought it was the pads on the disc that held the car.
