Ignition Key

Don't ask how but I've lost the Battery and buttons from my ignition key. I've the plastic Shell and the key. The car hasn't been starting well recently. Does the Battery part have to be in the key to allow the car to start. The car was not locked with the key after the last drive.

Hi,Gary and a very warm welcome to this great club

The buttons and Battery are for operating the lock/alarm system only.

The immobiliser,I'm pretty sure is in the same module but picks up it's signal from around the ignition switch which energizers it to start the engine.

If you hop over to the RAV4 section there are many people on there you can discuss your prob with who are always ready to offer sound advice
