would mine of had the 3/4 replacment as it was only done in november. even the ones with the 3/4 enegine whats to say these will last?

Dale....were you given paperwork / certification of a new engine number now pertaining to your car which must be re-registered at DVLC as far as I have learned on here.....? If you have a new engine number, yep....you have the 3/4 engine replacement I would guess....?

But your question BEGS me to ask....what The Friar did your dealer actually TELL you he was going to do to your car....? Was he being delightfully / deliberately vague? What does it say on the paperwork you left with?

Hopefully the "vested interest" I have in replies and postings on this subject never becomes particularly pertinent, but believe me....if somebody is gonnae do such major work to my car, I will be aware of his intent and modus operandi well in advance...!!!

Big Kev

i wasn`t given any paperwork and they didn`t say anything about registering a new engine number they just told me an engine arrived and they fitted it. thats all i was told when i picked the car up. they told me you dont get paperwork with warranty work. are they taking me for a fool should i ring toyota uk?

I asked and got the job sheet for the work thats been carried out. There it details all the parts/numbers/cost of the whole job! I would contact the dealership that carried out the work and ask them for a copy... I'm going to have to check to see if I've gotta new V5 form from Swansea with my engine as I cant remember if I got one to!!! If they are not prepared to give you the work sheet then get onto Toyota UK. I also wrote to customer services Toyota to ask about the warranty on the 2nd engine I had fitted and they told me it was covered under a 1 year warranty...

They just didn't want to give you it mate! as there is always paper work that has to be done for any work be it private or warranty to Toyota UK! You have to ask yourself WHY are they not prepaired to give you this? Are they hiding something that they dont want you to know about?!!!... Give Toyota UK a email or ring and I'm sure they wont have a problem with pulling out all the details of the car for you as they did for me after the 1st engine.

They always hide something, They mess up a job then try and poo poo you..... Just tell them you want a new engine as you doubt that their techies are qualified to do this repair to a good standarad.... if they say they are ask them for their qualification papers and get a DNA sample of the techi that worked on your rav :D

They all just fit parts and as so are T.A.F!!!!!!!!

There I feel better now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hope you get it sorted

This is exactly why I asked the question "were they being delightfully / deliberately vague". Unlike our good friend Jedi, I do not subscribe to all dealers are woeful humans, but you are totally being taken for a ride by this "dealer". I can only hope one of our more level-headed members or modulators can advise you better than me, as I must admit that my Scottish easily aroused temper is starting to rise on your behalf.

They must be reporting to Toyota GB what they are doing in order to be paid for said warranty work....you should be privvy to a copy....?

This man needs advice on his next step, mellow fembers....who SHALL take up this gauntlet?
