I can't remember where I saw them now to be honest, I was just clicking around everywhere on the web. I know I saw a short clip of a Yaris with HIDs on YouTube and I just used Google to search Yaris HIDs and see what came up.

Hope you find something on there.

Hi there! I'm new to this forum thingy...so forgive me if I seem a little naive... anyway I've enjoyed reading this topic as I too have ordered a new 2012 Yaris T-Spirit and thought you might be interested in the options that I chose for mine, I've ordered mine in white as I think the pan roof looks fab and stands out against the white but I've also requested the privacy glass (a little darker than the factory ones for the SR - (don't know why they won't offer this on the T-Spirit! other euro countries offer a mix of almost anything!!!) anyway, they willl do the privacy glass for me before handing it over and I've also requested the DRL to be fitted at the same time...I'm thinking it will look quite nice... any opinions??? John Roe in Subikhorpe are absolutely the best and nothing is too much bother for them...this is the 2nd Yaris I'm buying from them and I should get it towards the end of April... CAN'T WAIT!! :-D P.S. DRL are £466 supplied and fitted I'm told, but haven't seen the bill yet :-/

Hi Elizabeth,

Can you post a couple of pics of the car when you get it? I have the same exact model without DRL and privacy glass, and am thinking of doing the glass here...but would like to see how it looks since mine is also white.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike! I will definately try to post some on here :) (if i can figure out how that works! :) )

I should get it sometime next week so will be taking a lot of pics...my local Toyota are doing the privacy glass (which is usually about £250 they say) before they hand the car over, they included it in the OTR price otherwise I wouldn't buy it :) as i was happy with my 2010 Yaris to be honest, but I did like the options that the new model offers...so I was tempted but I made them include more in the base price, they've also included at no extra cost the extra nav system in the touch 'n' go!!.. the chrome exhaust tip that I so wanted..a boot liner and the interior supaguard, the only thing I couldn't get included in the price were the DRL which I'm paying £466 for but I definately think it's worth it as I haven't seen any Yaris's with these on...to be honest I haven't seen any white ones in my area either :)

Take care ... enjoy your fantastic car :)

I got the chrome exhaust tip and the boot tray or liner too :-) i already saw three exactly the same here in Malta.. But its a small country. Was tempted on the sat nav but have it on my iPhone and since im playing music over bluetooth, the instructions are over the car's stereo..just got a vent holder to fit it on top of the stereo :-) im waiting for the yaris hybrid to come here in summer and maybe i change my headlamps and tail lamps to the ones that come on the hybrid as they look fantastic.... Depends on their cost...

Thanks. You will definately not regret getting it... I have other cars (1991 mazda mx5, 2002 mini cooper s and a 2003 smart cabrio)... The yaris is the most comfortable...the others just have their own fun factor...but most definately not the comfort!

Hi Mike! I've been away for a while apologies...Really? we seem to have the same taste lol..you have an interesting collection there I must say! and all ones that I like too :) I LOVE the hybrid Yaris but when I spoke to the Toyota dealer they suggested i wait a couple of years, let them "iron out" any issues first they said...I do see what they mean and agreed as that was my line of thought anyway...I'm thinking of possibly making the change in maybe 2 or 3 years time...for now I'm just going to enjoy my new Toy-ota lol

I've taken some pics for you and made a new post if you are interested...I'd love to get some comments from you :)

Take care x

Hi Liz,

It looks fantastic. I ordered the window tint for the back doors and boot.... Just waiting for them to arrive any day now. The DRLs look nice, but i'm not willing to pay nearly €400 to have them installed...i prefer buying the headlamps from the hybrid and wiring up their own DRLs :-)

Do they remain on when the headlamps come on?

I will try and upload some pics of mine when i have some time.

Mike

Legally DRLs need to go off or be dimmed when the headlights are on (eg. at night) to avoid dazzling other drivers.

Hi Mike_mt!

Yes Mike is right...the DRL's do go out when the headlights are on, legalality here in UK, what does the law in Malta say? but I do absolutely agree with you that the Hybrid lights look fantastic! wouldn't they be even more expensive than just adding the normal DRL's though? Please upload some pictures of your car, I'd love to see it.. :) xxx

Wow!!! :D Not sure if I like the cars more or the view! lol I'm jealous :( that's a lovely area and reminds me of where I'm from!! Once again I must say that I love your collection...

it looks exactly like mine (well it would wouldn't it :) ) ...when are you planning to replace the lights with the Hybrid ones ? I'd love to see the outcome...may even copy you, ;) as I know it will look fantastic...do you think you can have both? the DRL's and the Hybrid headlamps?? or would that look too much?

P.S. Great numberplate

Thanks, its a place called Dingli Cliffs... central-western side of Malta. I am very happy with the cars... the Smart has been sold since my previous post as it was extra... we have another two Smarts anyway at home.

Where are you from then?

So.. as far as i know... the Yaris HSD will be out in around June/July here in Malta... same as UK, since we get the UK stock here. I am guessing parts should be available immediately. I am hoping that some aftermarket ones start to pop up too on the market.

Well... I'm certain you can have both wired up (or you can disconnect the DRL's in the bumper and use their wiring for the headlamp DRLs -- I know... it would then seem like a waste of money.. but at least they are wired as they should be). It may look too much.. but who cares.. as long as you like it.

Thanks.

Exactly...as long as we ourselves are happy..who cares! we pay for it, we have to drive it...we have to like it lol

The hybrid comes out the same time there then as it does here, I know they can be ordered now but won't be delivered till July here...I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh, it looks fantastic dosen't it? Do you think you'll be tempted to exchange yours? And yes I wouldn't mind going the whole hog as they say here and having all the lights connected,, at least it would look different :) and maybe keep the insurance people happy!

I'm originally from the Silver Coast in Portugal that's the West coast just north of Lisbon, (although I was born in England).. the views look just like your photos! I go every year for a holiday...I want to check out the price of a rear spoiler and front armrest while I'm there this year...might be cheaper than here...

Take care and enjoy your fantastic collection! xxx

I do really like the DRLs on the yaris. I haven't been brave enough to order them just yet though. I'm worried about the insurance. If they are fitted after it leaves the factory will the insurance company have to be notified and is it likely to bump the premium up alot?

Thanks

Hi Eren!

To be honest when I told the insurance that my new car had DRL's they considered them a safety feature and actually told me that they didn't really need to know about them...my insurance was actually quite a bit cheaper on my new 2012 Yaris than my 2010 Yaris :) (this was Swinton) xxx

Hi, thanks for the reply! That's quite good to know, I may perhaps mention to them I'm thinking of getting them and ask if they'd need to know if I did add them. Good to hear I may have a chance :) Do you have any photos of them with DRLs? I've seen one already on here but no more and actually none in real life either. I've only known one other person on here to have them and it was on a T Spirit. I've got an SR so I'd like to see what they look like on that.

Thanks

Eren

That's a good idea! see what they say first, you never know and you may be surprised :)

If you go on a Topic called "Bye bye baby blue Hello wicked white" there are pics of my car with the DRL's, only mine is the T-Spirit and it's in white, I would imagine they would look fantastic on your black SR though, if not better! have a peek and see what you think :)

Ooh! I've just looked. That looks so nice :) I think you have just made up my mind for me! I saw the other one was another member called ic2. They're on this thread at the moment and they've put up a photo of a red t-spirit with DRLs. I think I'll be giving the dealer a call and see what they can do and when :) Can I ask if you were able to spread the cost as finance if there was already finance on the car or did you have to pay out in full? I only ask as I'm currently in the middle of my private pilots license and most of my funds are going to that at the moment and if I can spread the cost it'll ease the pain a bit :)

I'm so glad you like them! You'll see they'll look amazing on your black SR..really stand out...

I added the cost to the overall finance on the car (added about £13 to the monthly figure, interest free) over the 3 years, but as I did that from scratch when I ordered the car, I don't know how you would do it if you've already sorted that out...you'll have to speak to your dealer I think...otherwise outright they'll cost you about £466....ouch..I know :/

Do you have a service agreement with Toyota, you know the one that you pay so much each month for the 3 year servicing on your car? If you do you'll get 10% discount on parts including labour and maybe you can take finance out that way...just a thought...

Private pilots licence eh??? WOW! :)

I do, yeah. I've got the service plan for 3 years so hopefully I can get that discount you speak of! :) I've bought it on finance so I'm wondering if maybe they can add it to my agreement now. That would be a big fat yes and another signature on the dotted line for them :)

And yeah, a private pilots license :) hoping to go on to commercial flying with an airline too!

Go for it! :) I'm sure they'll do anything to help you out, they want to keep their customers happy so I'm sure they'll figure out some way of doing it...

Can I ask you how much you pay for your service plan monthly? I've received a service plan from Toyota as I've only just bought my car last week, but don't know whether to take it out although it's definately tempting as you get that 10% discount on parts and accesories and I would like to get the back spoiler fitted to mine at some point...

Good luck on everything especially that pilots licence! :driving: not everyone can say they've got a private pilots licence eh?!

Oh I'm sorry I just realised I haven't actually got a service plan as such because they gave me 3 years free servicing within the 5 year warranty. It's probably worth it with the 10% discount. Although I like the DRL photos on here I'm going to wait and see if I can see one for real.

Thanks for the luck, I'll need it! Just done my 3rd ground exam and 4 more to go with quite a few more flying hours also before I'm qualified :)
