Tractors run truck engines and the latest ones have EGR or SCR system to meet Euro 3/4/5 no need for a DPF yet but it will be needed for Euro 6.

AFAIK the trucks use an overboost system for the short term power boost.

Will try and suss out at some point the set up Massey actually do use (dual mapping and/or overboost) i thought dual mapping because to me it would make sense that if you up the boost - the fueling and lots of other parameters in the engine need to change - hence needing a dual map.

The other thing is that while overboost is perfect on a truck (for hills etc) on a tractor id have thought that it would be less than ideal due to the power requirement being potentially required over a longer period. But as i say i will try and suss it out at some point.

The ford ST TDCI (among other ford cars) had an Overboost feature on the Duratorq engine.

Wasn't that great to be honest.

It was, i had a Focus 1.8 TDCi 115PS with a blue fin box and it did the same, its only 10% more IIRC. Proper surge and soot an that old smoker  , especially when the EGR stuck and then when it opened the smoke screen engaged

EGR.... The most unreliable part on any ford engine, closely followed by Injectors and heated windscreen

Most troublesome car I have ever owned.

Always nice to drive, not so nice to own

I got rid when it failed the 1st MOT, the inner wheel arch liner fell onto a fuel line and it was chaffed, not covered under warranty. Any independent would not have spotted it, Mr F went straight for it. Common fault apparantly, warranty not valid as previous owner was 3k late on an oil & filter service. And the connection is? Never got an answer to that, i still hate them.
