does anyone no the volts of alternator

toyota avensis gs vvt-1 1.8 petrol i have little red light on dash that is a battey,stuck 2nd hand one on and still got red light any ideas,the tester is showing 11,volts the place i got alternator fromsaid it was test and working,,told me it was my car that has the fault,,,

The voltage across the Battery terminals with the engine running should be 12 - 13 volts but less than 14.2v - Running the engine with all the lights on etc. should produce a voltage of between 13 and 14v.
