THE BUZZER ON MY 4.2 IS VERY QUIET COMPARED WITH THE BUZZER ON MY WIFES 4.1.

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHERE IT IS ACTUALLY SITUATED AND IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO ADJUST THE VOLUME.

I SUSPECT FORMER OWNER MAY HAVE MUTED THE BUZZER, MAYBE BY WRAPPING TAPE AROUND IT!!!!!

ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

I had a look at the stuff I have and got nowhere.

I'd expect the buzzer/chime to be in behind the dash somewhere and as I have the number1 dash out, then logic would tell you that I might locate it. However its not that simple - all the rest of the interior is out of the car so I need to find the dash first ! Its in the garage somewhere !!!

If need be, I could send you a used hearing aid ?

On my 4.2 model Rav it is located I think just to the right of the steering wheel, you can see a little cut out in the dash for the sound to come out...

Annoying little thing, I know I have the keys in the ignition as I put them their.....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It sits inside the instrument panel. To get to it, pull off the plastic bezel, remove the 4 screws, slacken the two 10mm "brass" screws at the top then push the two tabs to release the connectors on the back. It should just wriggle out leaving the male connectors attached to the body. On the back of the panel there is a small 10mm? hole and you can see the buzzer through it. Somebody has maybe simply put a bit of tape over it. To get into the buzzer, simply remove the 11 screws attaching the cover.

Hope this helps.

haha - I went out in number 2 today and realised that the buzzer thing for my aged car is for leaving the light s or ignition keys on/in. No buzzer for the seatbelt. So well done Turco and posting a good answer.

Many thanks Gents.

I appreciate the head scratching and offers of second hand hearing aids etc, and sorry for the SHOUTING, I hadn't realised Caps lock was on.

Any way thanks Turco, a very comprehensive answer and I will give it a go.

1st owner of the car was an area manager of a Mr T dealeship so I suspect he had one of his minions 'fudge' it

Happy New yEAR TO ALL. :newyear:

Congrats on a stonking answer, Turco....sounds like one could decoke the engine whilst looking for this wee beeper, which on mine is the opposite.....IT SHOUTS AND SCREAMS if you remove the seat belt too early (bloomin' passengers...).

Is said beeper in same place on a 4.3 do you know....? I would insert some foam in its orifice to dull that siren if easy to get to...

Noise Intolerant Kev :help:
