Gen 3 Rear Brakes

FYI, the Gen 3 Prius doesn't have drums inside the discs, the parking brake operates on the discs, using the brake pads.

OK - good to know.

Still, the problem with the brakes binding would be the same.

'Break' = Brake - thanks for the correction! That's weird. I don't know why I did that. I didn't even see it. At least I was consistent.

Cheers...

You were just daydreaming of your time away in the sun (or any time away from work?) :)

if the hand (sorry Parking) brake operates on the disc pads, do be aware of the consequences of not putting the car into P when parked up

I had an Audi TT, and parked it in my forecourt after a hot run on a hot day.....hand brake on, but for some strange reason, I left the car in Neutral........an hour later there was a knock on the door, and somebody asked me if I owned an Audi TT, and (bugger me) it wasn't in the driveway......basically the car had cooled down, the brakes had contracted and let go, and the car had drifted quietly out drive, amazingly without hitting the gate on either side, across the pavement without hitting anybody, across a bus lane, and then across a busy main road and onto the pavement on the other side......and No Damage!!!......was I ever lucky....no, I was MORE THAN lucky

maybe the Prius, a car that barely uses its friction discs anyway, would not suffer this fate, as the discs wouldn't get so hot before hand

You can't do this in the Prius, it automatically engages P on shutdown. :)
