3.400 Pounds... yeah shure... I will buy a second hand Aygo for that money...

Thats the idea...modding cars is never cheap. Buy a secondhand AYGO and turbo charge it for less than the price of a secondhand IQ....depends if you want to be an individual or not. Personally I would rather turbo charge an MX5, or preferably buy one already done.

Many years ago I had a Cinquecento sporting that had a van aaken turbo conversion, cant remember the cost but it wasnt cheap. But 55bhp to 105bhp meant it flew and was very different. 0-60 was in the 7 second bracket and it would pull off the 120mph clock no probs.

That electric fan is about as powerful as a high speed delta fan in a server chassis. You would be better making a ram air duct and routing down to the front of the car....that would provide far more pressure....and a whole load of debris going in.

I think you have to type of men (sorry ... ehh ... car-owners):

One will buy the most expensive car and keep it as original as possible..

And

The other will buy an expensive car and change it to there needs...

You never see a Lamborghini Murciélago (just an example) that's been pimped. Unless it's from an artist... and they do only the paint job...

I like it when it's not that original anymore ... but better than original...

Like buying a super expensive car... chopping it in half and adding 3 feet extra to it...

Adding 19# rims and putting high chrome spinners on it...

Or chopping the roof of and lowering the whole ceiling by a foot..

Or putting a too big engine in a too small car... :toast:

Anyway.. it's just a car and it's for transportation and FUN... :yahoo:

They say it should only be run for say 30 seconds at a time or 'short bursts'. That means it probably has very little or nothing in the way of cooling. Normal turbos and superchargers are cooled by a high pressure supply of oil which lubricates and cools. It also says it gives up to 5 PSI of boost. Atmospheric pressure gives 14.7 PSI so I wouldn't expect big gains. To me it sounds pretty cheap and regardless of any power gain I wouldn't want to put one on mine. The Rotrex one for the Aygo 1.0 engine looks a lot more serious but obviously has a much higher price tag.

Still, will be interesting to see results. If money was no object I would probably already have the Rotrex one installed by now.

This is a Eaton M45 Supercharger fitted to a Standard bore 1328cc Jimny engine.

(internal compnents are uprated to cope)

A few hundred pounds for the used Charger, some good engineering, lots of little problems to solve the biggest being cooling.(& space)

The next picture is a 1600cc engine fitted instead of the 1328cc one.

Simple conversion,

power/torque gained & only costs the price of a used engine & some fabrication.

IMO For an iQ just fit a Suzuki Hayabusa/Blackbird engine/box or similar.

Under a £1000, some good engineering & you have all the power/torque & revs you will ever need.

Hmmmm... now thát's an idea....

Still I will go for the extra Turbo... if I win the lottery... ha ha

Would like to see where you can get a blackbird/busa engine thats decent and also has all the diff and everything else for a grand. Those engines are in demand for kit car /cater-fields builds.

Would be fun with a sequential box though.

I paid well over 2 for the complete a/d bike(busa), but thank to fleabay and shifting what i dont need i have the drivetrain and electrics for around £800.

(some bits still left to sell, but being lucky and in the right place, buy cheap & sell for what people will pay)

pics will follow, but it is not going in an iQ.

I would imagine youre going to put it in something lightweight and RWD, or else a mini type car of some sort.

Ive driven a Z-cars mini with a Busa engine in and they are !Removed! great fun, my friend built one from scratch. He currently working on putting an S2000 lump into a tiger chassis as he is fed up with duratecs breaking.

It is for a slightly larger version which is a cross between these 2.

lights and no plates and you have your own Ariel Atom, George...........brilliant

Now that looks like fun...though surely a busa lump is a little underpowered for soo much weight... ;-) Can I suggest a nice big bore kit followed by a turbo conversion....it might even wheelie like a bike then...hehe

Was just thinking the same as Barry, thats a cheap Atom. Great cars and so funny to have air forced up the trouser legs, sleeves and trying to lift my crash helmet off.

An interesting read here - with ref to supercharging the IQ/Aygo. It just so happens that I have a Rotrex C15-60 supercharger sitting in the house doing nothing at the mo ...... It was fitted to my Nissan Almera 1.8 for a while, but that went about 5 months ago to buy my newer Auris SR180. The 'charger runs well & has no problems, with the oil supply lines, cooler & reservoir included. I have an intercooler with pipes too, but that would be too big for the IQ or Aygo (so it will probably be sold on the Almera club site). If you want to see what this unit can do on an Aygo, then I suggest you look at the post made earlier from TTS in Silverstone (or in Redline magazine where they had a 'charged Aygo staff car).

I would be looking for £500 for the Rotrex unit & above associated parts. You would obviously need the pulley to connect the belt drive (which again is available from TTS). I guess they would also be able to guide you on fuelling & electrical mods too.

Please be aware I do not work for TTS, it's just that they are the only official Rotrex importer in the UK ! Anyone interested feel free to ask questions :)

You could try asking the seller what the power consumption is and also what volume of air can the wonder turbo produce. If it produced any meaningful increase in intake pressure then you wouild have to upgrade system and possible alter the ignition timing to prevent premature ignition.
