Freestyle 5Th Gear Slipping Out

My 150k RAV 4 Freestyle has just started to slip out of 5th gear on overrun. A local Toyota dealer tells me the 5th gear part of the gearbox is almost a separate part and that the whole box doesn't need to be removed. He was quoting around £550 to renew the cogs etc. inside and restore a reliable 5th gear. I love the car (not so much the petrol it consumes!) but living on Dartmoor you need a 4x4. No panic as I can't get out of 4th around here, but I am getting fed up with holding the stick every time I slow down on open roads. Anyone help with advice / costings for repair / good garage around EX20 / and how do professional gearbox experts come out price wise? Graham, Devon.

Its all detailed on R4W. Kingo will give you a price for the bits.

Quite easy if you are mechanically minded or you can get some help from somebody who is.
