Hi

I am confused over what oil to put in my 2TG? I will run it in ambient temps from 5 degrees celcius to 25 degrees celcius.

I just picked up the car and am told it has 10W-40. But once hot the oil pressure fluctuates between 10 to 50psi when between 1500 to 2500rpm.

I am thinking the oil maybe too thin for a 35 year old engine. Should I use 15W-40 or even 20W-50?

hi.......I went through the same thing with my 2TG.

I spoke with Millers Oils tech dept as my pals use their oils for rallying. They told me not to use modern 5-30 type oils because a 35 year old engine didn't have the same tight build std of todays modern engines. Old engines need zinc in the oil to help the engine.........most modern oils don't contain zinc additives anymore.

They told me to use a 20-50 type oil..........so I bought their Classic Sport 20-50....it is semi synthetic and contains all the right ingredients for older engines.

They were very honest and direct and steered me away from their more expensive oils as I was willing to pay for the best they had.

I have to say I think it's great.....pressure went up by about 5 psi and as my engine is tuned and balanced it revs to 7,500 and I do feel much happier than when I used modern oils..........

Hope this helps........
