Hi guys, as per title, I have a 2004 d4d avensis with 80k miles on it. This car has been neglected of servicing and I would now like to bring the servicing up to scratch. Can members please tell me what I should be checking/changing form a service point of view?

Also I have a problem where the heaters are on but no air is actually blowing out of the vents. You can clearly hear the air.

Please help, I really need to get the car ip to scratch. Thanks

As well as the engine oil and filter change air filter, check strength of anti-freeze, condition of drive shaft boots and steering boots, brake pads and disks, change brake fluid and fuel filter. Change the pollen filter ( may be the cause of air obstruction). Generally check the suspension components, steering wheel and linkages, wheel bearing play, all brake pipes, fuel lines etc. Also inspect and clean the EGR valve.

Thank you for your advice fitter.

I have noted what you have said and will be doing the items you have advised. I will also change the gearbox oil to be on the safe side. I have never cleaned an egr valve and don't know where the polen filter is situated. I will however search the net for a good diy on this. I will report back if I cannot find something decent. Also can you advise if any maintenance is required on the turbo itself? I have 0 experience on turbo vehicles. Most of my experience comes from working on BMWS.

Sorry I know nothing about turbos. The pollen filter is situated behind the glove box. Open lid and remove the screw from the stay on the nearside( with the passenger door open) and allow the glove box door to drop. Squeeze the sides of the glove box quite hard to release it and it will fall down. If it falls off don't worry it is only clipped on. Behind there is a long thin black box. Unclip the fasteners at the side and remove the front cover. Pull out the filter.
