Gt4

I have just got a Rav 4 an the more I drive it, the more I don't like it, only while I'm down on my luck at the minute. I'll probably have the Rav for around 6 months but the next car I have I'll have to keep for a few years as the more I think about the amount I have wasted in the last few years the more I realise just why I'm broke right now. :o

I used to own a couple of Celicas, a limited edition 25th aniversary & a 185 GT4 however this was a few years ago. I would like another GT4 any 165-185-205 but I'm woundering howmuch they are these days an which is the best to go for :help: (Probabley a bad question as each owner will say theirs is the best).

I've seen ST205's for as little as £1500 now...

Like most Japanese sports cars there a few good non-rusty, un-chavved examples around.

For £2-3k im sure you'll find a nice ST205 :)

Thanks for that well as I say at the minute I'm watching my pennys right now but will defo looking in the summer time. As a bloke in a Rav just doesn't work but I'll sell it to my mates mrs as her first car. A 17year old car brand new driver even if she don't know what she's doing at least the car will.

  • 3 weeks later...

Are the 185's better then 205 or the other way around as the 185 seem to be cheaper? I gave up with the 165 as A) it's older then I am (almost  ) B) Their like rocking horse doodoo trying to find one is almost impossible I've seen a few over the years on eBay but I don't have an account and I certainly wouldn't buy a sports car off it espically with the ones that I have seen, so any help here please?

I need to know how much a really nice examples are up for and considering your all celica buyers and owners you probably know everything that I have forgotten over the years.

The 185's are the older model. So yes the 205 being the newer model is built to be better in every way (im not just saying that because i'm an st205 owner, its just a fact. So to all the st185 owners, please dont take it the wrong way, im not attacking the older car).

The only thing i can think of that is in the 185's favour (and im 'really' nit picking here) is that the front suspension arms last longer on the older car.

The st205 has superstrut suspension which is a great setup that offers far greater levels of front grip than that of the st185. However these suspension components need replacing every 60-100k miles as they wear slightly faster. So its the price you pay for the better suspension really.

The st205 is faster, more reliable, handles better and i believe it also weighs less.

So the 185 isn't a bad car then I take it as their was an appology to the 185 just that the 205 is the better all round package. So I shouldn't feel bad if I was to get a 185 as it's still a very good car. I have to admit I do porfer the front end off the 185 as I think that's what is missing from modern car the pop up lights, B)
