Very Heavy Steering When Manouvering

Hi all

I've got a 59 plate T-spirit estate Avensis which has been fine.

However one thing that frustrates me is when reversing out of a car parking space and the driving forward with full lock on at slow speeds the steeting is extremely heavy (much heavier than any other car i've had). Is this just a case of me having 18inch low profile tyres or could this be a steering issue at all?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Have you checked your tyre pressure is okay?

Mine does the same on 17's, another quirk

Its not consistant which makes it unlikely to be the tyres, also the alternator belt squeals under load and the steering column makes a strange gratting noise.

Like Cabcurtains said, it's not consistant and definately not tyre pressure. I think it probably is another quirk, I don't have any belts making noises though.
