Mot Time Reveals A Scary Thing ......

Well it was MOT time (car now 4 yrs old) & I left it at the garage with some trepidation. The testers seem to be extremely stringent these days, so I'm always worried it'll fail on something trivial (or otherwise). Hour & a half later I get a call saying the handbrake is not efficent enough, can they have a look & diagnose the problem ? To which I said 'yes' & left them to it. Another hour later, it appears that whoever fitted the new rear brake pads before I bought it (4 months ago) didn't do the job properly. The pads had not been secured in their locating pins & had moved out of the proper position ! They wouldn't have fallen out, but they were certainly 'skew-wiff' enough to impair the braking. Needless to say I was rather less than impressed with the supplying dealer (non-Toyota). :o

However it's done & not too expensive either, so happier now.

Better brought to your attention than left, I hope you gave the dealer who fit the pads a ring?

I certainly did & guess what ? They claimed to know nothing about it  It's highly unlikely (although possible) that the previous owner had the new pads fitted just before he sold it ......
