Creaking Sound

Is this likely to be the steering rack? Had a similar issue on my civic type r.

Would this be covered under warranty?

Nope. Most likely needs a pair of cheap washers at the top of the front legs;

You might just cure it for a short time with WD40 through the top of the leg.

My car has done this from day 1.. Its never got any worse. The washers as Don says are pennys.. Putting them in costs a lot more.....
