Auris Sr 180 Inter Cooler

That's an interesting question as I thought it would've had one anyway. I've only had mine a short while, so methinks I'll have a look tonight when I put it in the garage. Very unusual to find a TD engine with anything over 140 bhp these days & no intercooler.

do you mean a bigger improved one in place of the current one?

As I thought then, it does have one. Would have been very surprised to find it didn't !

The current IC will be more than adequate to cope with 177bhp, so it would be a waste of time and money fitting anything bigger, and with the lack of tuning options available the money would be better spent on improved brakes and decent tyres.

Whey hay! Davey's back :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I agree with my mate here that the one thats fitted will be well upto the job. Better performance discs and pads is what I'd put me money into. I have MTEC drilled and groved on both my Avensis estate and my Polo. Really does work well but I fear that my Polo ones have warped! so I'm gonna check them over the weekend.

Anyone else with MTEC had this problem yet???

wont putting an intercooler increase ur power. because thy cooler engine coming into the engine

Only turbo assisted engines will see any difference with an intercooler. The reason being as the turbo compresses the air it will get hot. Fitting one to a naturally aspirated engine will cause poorer performance due to the drag placed on the incoming air.

The SR180 has a Turbo, and an Intercooler.

Buying one will be a HUGE waste of money, because it has one already. Buying a bigger one will also be a waste of money because the current one is plenty big enough to cope with the current power, and probably a lot more, and as tuning options are rare and expensive, it's unlikely you will ever exceed the parameters that the IC is capable of.

Focus on the important things like brakes and tyres so you can maintain some of that speed through corners better, and stop quicker if it all goes wrong.

Or buy a car that is faster.

I agree with the above.

For example, my previous Megane 1.9dCi 120hp shared the same intercooler and exhaust back box (but with only one exit pipe) as the RenaultSport Megane 225.
