Hi just wanted to know is it illegal to stamp a service book if u have'nt carried out the service?

the reason i ask is that i brought my T 180 from a vauxhall dealer and it had one stamp missing but when i took it back be cause it was losing coolant they lost the service book (don't think they lost it) but lucky enough they had faxxed a copy to the toyota dealer as it needed the 3/4 engine so when i picked the copy of the service book off them the vauxhall dealer had filled in the missing stamp is there anything i can do about this? thanks dale

A pedant writes . I do not know about but stamping but there are a few crimes committed above. "You" not "u, "I" not "i". Vauxhall not vauxhall. Faxed not faxxed. Toyota not toyota . From them not off them. Thanks with a capital t after a question mark not thanks with a small t. Dale with a capital D.

Whilst you're on pedantically being a pedant about other people's posts, WTF is "but stamping" ? Now....should that question mark be inside or outside the brackets....?

People who live in glass houses.....

Bigg kev....

Ah, but is it pedantic or punctilious and am I being a pedant asking such a question?

Answers to Lynne Truss (that's something Kev supports his Hi-Fi with) on a very monochromatic web forum.

WTF is "but stamping" ?

Something they do in the US?

On Topic: I wouldn't worry about it, unless they've dated it as well, i.e. the date sequence is now not correct, which would look a bit odd. Otherwise, when did they stamp the original? Before or after it was faxed? Can you get another fax copy, if it was stamped afterwards?

You could ask the Vauxhall dealer for an invoice for the 'service' they have completed, that'll stump them!

Illegal . No doubt it very much.. Dishonest ? Well providing the car HAS had a service then not really...

My case...

I booked My car in for a service at MR T. Cost was £158 When I found out this was for an oil and filter change and a visual inspection I cancelled. As that cost was in My opinion not on...

I then took My car to a Mates Garage I did the oil and filter change . Changed the Air filter and pollen filter. Removed all four wheels and stripped out all brake pads for a good clean and to lube the relevant parts of the brakes. Did a Brake fluid change ( Melvyn did this part ) Did all the tyre pressures checked all bulbs ect ect.

A thorough inspection of everything that moves or not was also done.

Melvyn (Trained and competent technician) Then inspected everything that I had done . And then stamped the book.

Now what was done far exceeded what the Toyota Dealer would have done for several times the cost.....

Legal ? Well My work was inspected by a trained Technician and passed fit for ....

But there is still a little deception going on ... Despite the above Folk would still rather see that all important Dealer stamp in the book....

Charlie.

You could some time ago buy a fully stamped service book on a certain auction site, all you had to do is fill in the blanks.

They stamped it before it was faxed to Toyota it was the 3rd stamp missing aswell so they had to back date it aswell. My prblem is now i know this fact when i come to sell this car it`d be fraud if i sold it with service history. perhaps i should inform trading standards and police i just don`t know what to do

By the way but. Confusaed am I. Did ye brought the car, or did it bring you? If I brought you, would you come with history or just an offendrers record? Why would you want 3/4 of an engine. Which 3/4 have you got? The top but? The left hand side? But maybe but the top end?

Shame about mistermena losing his post last night. We sell posts so let me know the length and I'll send yooz wan. Thats means you'll hae brought it ye ken but?
