Diesel Injector Fuel Cleaners

I tipped a tin of the BG in the Avensis and it did nothing, there are 2 ways to look at this, either it doesnt work or the car is working correctly. As its only got 14k on the clock i would go with the latter.

£20 up the spout pal ? (or should that be `down the hatch` )

Nothing ventured nothing gained :ermm: , i hoped it would help, but the only answer on this car is to drive long distances at low speed. I want to praise Toyota as i've bigged them up for years, but its very difficult with the later cars :(

Now if it had 60k on the original injectors it would be interesting to see if there was a difference.

I wouldn't have thought that using BG in a motor with 14k wouldn't have done out either! But now it might work and you know its not gonna cost you a pennie to use!!! Powerenhancers have a 100% money back warranty on the Snake oil :naughty: so if you're not happy you get all your wonga back! and you dont even have to send the can back! I used there BG44 on me mums C3 petrol and never noticed a difference, so I got my wonga back and went down the pub for a few jars with the money! :nerd::laughing::spiteful::yahoo:

With an MOT due in 2 weeks, 2 rear tyres due pretty soon and a problem with the rear brakes sticking and needing new pads, I won't be buying anything else for the car for a while. As good as it is, I can't justify it as i'm losing interest in the car, and the brand.

Oo !

what ya fancying now mate ? :dontgetit:

To be honest, I don't know.

I really enjoyed the Fabia vRS when I owned it, so its on the short list, but would have to be in Good condition as they are getting old now.

Might be tempted with a petrol if the price is right as the MPG on mine is not acceptable for a diesel engine. I know it is a 2.2 with 180bhp etc etc, but it could be better if it wasn't for an over active DPF (this is a presumption based on many discussions and personal opinion).

But, as always I need to find a car that suits the budget, is reasonable to run and easily tuneable should I decide to. Vag group seem to tick the boxes so far....

As it happens, my local Toyota dealer are looking to buy used cars out right, so I have emailed them for a quote. If the deal is good, I will snap their hand off.

Have to be honest and say I can`t complain about my Verso at all which after a couple of `long` journeys (15miles) is currently at 52.9 mpg

Coming up the motorway at just under 2k 61.8 :D

If my Auris would get close to 60mpg I'd be more than happy.

Best I've ever seen from a run was 50.3mpg, and dropped like a stone towards the end of the tank.

Anyway, I've hijacked the thread a bit...

Davey I love diesels and swore I`d never return to petrol but with all new euro5 diesels having a DPF I`m rapidly changing my mind.

Now I know some say they`ve never had a problem with their DPF equipped car (I`d issues with my 2.7d Jag) but they are potentially a major problem that I personally would rather do without.

I'm in 100% agreement, and posted a very similar post on another forum we both use.

If manufacturers can come up with reliable emission control system for diesels that is urban user friendly all might not be lost. B)

Well i got to do 400 miles tomorrow and if its at 60 i will take an extra 1hr each way, looks like another 40 MPG tank full , which aint that bad really.

I cant decide if its petrol or diesel next time, Diesel the ticking time bomb or a petrol guzzler with less worries.

Cheaper to buy, and equal on fuel which is lower at the pump.. the gutless petrol suddenly has my interest :(

Petrol with a small turbo would do nicely, shame Mrs CC wants another MPV or 4x4.

Fits the bill on both counts, a 1 litre 120ps is among the range.

I will be having a serious look ay them.

Not keen mate eh ?

Well it would be a boring world if we were all the same.

We are getting slightly off topic but I agree with what is being said.

I bought a Toyota for its supposed legendary reliablity and a diesel because I was going to keep it for twenty years.

You have to do massive mileage before a diesel engine pays for itself - though the torque is good.

I now feel cheated and my faith in Toyota is dwindling.

I still get 65mpg+ but why should I put up with warning lights on the dash that tell me something is wrong when it patently isn't?

Toyotas refusal to sell me a workshop manual also makes me unlikely to buy or recommend the marque.

When the Toyota salesman asked if I liked the car some months after buying it I said well it's OK but not a Honda or a Mazda....

Thats because they dont make workshop manuals, everything is online and you can buy time online if you need technical info, it costs about €3 an hour and you can print off or save the info

Online manuals are useless when you have dialup or are at the roadside. The ability to flick quickly through pages and digest information is far better in a bound book. It's pure laziness on Toyotas part.

I have had no internet access for a few days and the car won't start am I meant to walk 15 miles to an internet cafe?

i've not done it with a modern engine but i've used ATF(auto transmission fluid) at a 8-10% ratio in the tank to clean injectors

it stopped a smokey warm up ;) ;)
