Ever So Slightly Dodgy New Rear Discs

This is not a rant or anything in fact the problem i had with my new rear MTEC's is relatively minor.

I fitted them and adjusted the shoes up no probs but when spinning the o/s to check the shoes were not binding i got a scraping noise, thinking it was the shoes just rubbing against the drum i backed them off, and then more and more until they were as slack as they could be. Still no joy, so i stripped the whole lot down again and after having a look around noticed bare metal on the backplate so i put the disc back on and locked it up with a few studs and slowly rotated the disc and sure enough it was hitting the backplate in a certain spot. As it was starting to get dark by now i wasnt gonna get the grinder out so i ended up adjusting the the backplate with a hammer and punch to cure the problem. I can only conclude there is a high spot on the back of the disc on the lip of the drum. I didnt want my car off the road for a few days whilst waiting for another one from MTEC so i adjusted as required. I checked for the disc being warped (at least visually as i dont have a dti hanging around) and it looked fine. I put the wheel back on and checked for end float and there is none so i think that there is a minor defect with the disc which i will live with, having driven it around and along with the fronts i fitted a month ago the braking is much improved as is pedal feel, i'm gonna email mtec and mention it but the car drives fine so no further action is required.
