Electric Window Noise

Avensis Estate 02 GLS

The drivers side front window doesn't seem to want to shut down immediately when it gets to the top of its travel ( closed ) I get creaky noises as tho it is still trying to close but it does stop after a few seconds. All other stop/ start functions of the switch work OK.

Anyone know what is causing this ? Is it likely to damage motoe etc. ?

Thanks for any help

Drivers door window nearly always gets more use than the others and wears quicker. Have you had replacement glass as it sounds as though the regulator is out of synch, otherwise the motor may be on its way out. I've a '98 1.8 CDX and have had both!

Thanks for reply. Strange because I didn't have any problem with the window motors in my last car a 12 year old Cavalier. There has been a lot of talk here recently about the British build quality ( or lack of ) n the second generation Avensis but surely the reliability of the components should be the same ...... and I would suggest many are still being used in the new model.
