Engine Trouble

Use a fuel treatment it will help to clean the injectors if they are clogged, and as many have said the occasionaly let the car rev when safe to do so to clear the EGR valve.

I have always used Shell fuel & kept Fuel & Air filters maintained.

Not had any issues so far although its now on 72k and my first proper winter with the Auris will keep you posted.

Try a double glow rather than glowing the plugs once before starting turn ignition of wait 2 seconds and try again it will help starting to be easier & puts less strain on your Battery.

Hi,

yes we did prime plugs two times to see if this would make starting easier, but didnt seem to be any difference.

Really hoping the injectors are just blocked due to bad fuel, theres no problem with the car getting the odd frashing as it will be doing 400 + a week . water and oil will be checked weekly, found out so much this past week. Still a brill car, and considering how many there are out there i would still take my chances.

Hi SKIPPY07

could you let us all know what the final outcome was, and what was causing the problem.

Yes of course. hope i get it back some time soon. Once it was started, you would not think there was any problems at all.

Hi,

Fingers crossed all is fixed, big test will be tomorrow morning. A big thanks to LIAM6200, and everyone else who has posted and shed some light on other issues for the future.

After feeding the garage with possible faults, and them calling a friend who works for toyota, we had the hp fuel pump rebuilt with the modified suction valve. Although quite expensive still alot cheaper than buying a brand new one. A new o ring on one of the injectors and new fuel filter. so far so good. All geniune parts.

I will in future keep the full service history up together and only use geniune parts, because, after finding out the manufacturies warranty will only cover this. My big concern is there are a few cars fitted with dodgy piston rings and this is the only way they will validate the warranty. Hope this will help people in the future. Thanks for looking and helping.

Hi All,

Did the big test this morning, clutch to the floor once, turned over one and half times and started. since starting and taking for a brief drive will turn over instantly. Im sure this will get better as i use up tescos fuel in the tank and replace with a much better grade of fuel.

Heart was in my mouth for a brief second but on the whole a very big relief. Really want to celebrate, but just dont want to jinx anything to soon. Happy days

Hi all,

Just a quick update, car is getting better and better. since switching to v power diesel, we seem to be getting 500 miles to a tank, which is working out at 65 mpg, and believe me thats not driving eco friendly. Thats 100 miles more than tesco fuel and thats the 1st tank which was a bit of a mix of both fuels. Def more pokey as well. So do the maths an extra £3.00 for 100 miles and great protection for your engine. Will miss the extra tesco vouchers, but less expense for engine failure. CHEERS

Another testimony for decent fuel... Glad people are finally realising the extra cost at the pump is balanced out by extra mileage.
