Birthdays, Yes Or No?

For many years Dave M, put everyones birthdays on site, and i know when my birthday came up the first time i was genuinely quite moved by it, Dave then didn't frequent the site as much and i took over, last year i had a few problems and Dell (Crofter) stepped into the breech.. unfortunately a few, much to my shame including Dell and Dave got missed out...

This new format doesn't include a birthday list and some (not Anchs) of the moderators have always said that all Birthdays should be posted on the general section.. In view of this should we continue to post birthdays on here as inevitably some are going to be missed, also I have a written list of some of my friends birthdays, but notice quite a few do not disclose them anyway..Paulus, spedo, uncle p, rambler, Jedi, and Toolbox amongst them, your thoughts please, and if you think a poll is in order, then maybe we should have one, Though TBH i am not sure how to do it....Stew

Having members wishing you happy birthday is a nice friendly touch . I've been the looser in the birthdays being left off, I'm a member of four UK Lexus/Toyota based forums and I've just had my 50th birthday, due to the new formate on all of them i only had a mention here in the Rav4 section, for which I'm very grateful.

Seems the new format if full of features but has become rather clinical and cold, its lost or loosing the personal touch .

Hi Stew.

I suppose it's good a idea if you are a regular poster, which i suppose i would be if i knew more about the technical side of things, but i will be one poster who will just ask more and more questions as we progress along with our Rav.It's all new to us.

I didn't put my birthadate on mainly because i didn't think i would be posting or staying around as much as i have but the site is such a friendly site that i feel encouraged to post and ask the daft questions,so for that reason i will add my birthdate to my profile.

Perhaps a mail to Steve would answer the question if the birthday section will or is possible to come back??

Adds to the community spirit in my opinion

Was going to get all emotional there but emoticons have gone on strike now - they were working for me earlier..........

Gotta love a shout out on the big day, nothing like feeling that little but special if even for a mere moment. I vote yes!

Stew, agree with all that has been posted so far, except please stop apologizing about the missed ones, water under the bridge, matie

Looks like 100% for,so far.

As for posting in the General Section,I suspect that if asked, more than a few would say that they only visit their own models section.

If it has to be that way,you could pin something like "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ANYONE WHO HAS ONE TODAY"

Does'nt cut it with me thou,no way,no siree!

Must say I miss the Spell Check icon or is it there and I am missing it?

I also was touched (I should be so lucky!) on my Birthday to see greetings and well-wishes, so I vote Yes. I guess those who would not want a reminder would not put their details in anyway.

Re in the Model forum or the General Discussions, it is clear from the posts in General Discussions that they tend to be more General ANNOUNCEMENTS and are more related to site info. I go to General Discussions very rarely, but maybe more then most (!) so keeping the Happy Birthdays to the Forum people frequent makes sense to me.

Would you post a happy birthday greeting in a National Paper to a mate down the pub, or would you stick up a banner behind the bar?

Yep mine got missed, it was my 50th too , and you also missed my surprise party too (would have roll eyes smiley here but they seem to have stopped working)

Anyway being the long time birthday poster before handing the responsibility over to you guy's I'm

obviously going to say YES.Trouble is this may be academic if the forum does not bring the notifications back.

Well i cannot apologise enuff Dave, and if the notifications dont come back, I will try and compile my own list, so far i have Chatmans (tomorrow) hoovie, mistermenia, stridingman,BK,bothy, charlie, davem, igormus, manxrav, shcm, sywy, and crofter, SO IF ANYONE WANTS INCLUDING PLEASE PM ME YOUR BIRTHDATE, you do not have to post your age, other than that i will look up regular posters and check their dates but its inevitable some will get missed  Stew
