Power Loss 2.0 D4D

hi,

since I am dutch and my english needs improvement, I may have trouble with a clear definition of my car's problem. But OK, here we go.

my Corolla 2.0 D4D, jan. 2005, 225.000 km, regular service done, experiences 'slow picking up of power' from time to time. After reducing speed, releasing the accelerator, the engine only picks up power again very slowly when pushing down the accelarator. At a higher rev (2500-3000) the normal power 'jumps' back and accelarates well.

Does it ring a bell?

Can someone help me out?

By the way: what's a MAF?
