Hello Everyone, I was wondering if you can help me, please I traded my D4-d tspirit previa on an 06 with 56k on for an avensis estate tr, sept 2010 with 10k on from main dealer. I only do between 12k and 16k a year but drive the car quite hard. i only do short distances normally. please be honest am i going to regret my choice with regard to the valve issue and head gasket etc. perhaps i should have gone for petrol but thought diesel were solid. i like the car but appreciate honest answers i do have a remainder of the warrenty for about 3 and ahalf years was my previa engine exposed to the same problems

kind regards chris :ermm:

Now thats the 1st I've heard of the post 2009 year cars that have suffered with the head EGR valve!!! I dont blame you going for a petrol either!... I'm considering getting rid of my car as its just such a massive worry all the time!...

My dealership wkb waterlooville say they haven't had any new shape problems I only spoke over the phone to inchcape but my car came from them originally and I don't know if they made a mistake I mean of the problem has been resolved I will miss the d4 d

TBH... The D4-D engines are one of the best I've driven apart from the Merc's!... But there have been so many reported problems, in particular with the 2AD unit that it just worries the Hell out of me just staring the car, let alone driving the thing!... Dont get me wrong! I love driving the T-180 (When I'm in it) but there is always something in my mind that says get rid of it while its still okay!... If these 2AD were just not so !Removed! fragile Toyota would have one of the best oil burners around!.

I wonder if the dealer was getting confused between the T25 and the new T27 models???

It's a shame they don't do a two or two point two litre petrol as I think I will struggle with a full boot and car although I've got to get use to a petrol again

no bugger could afford to tax these (private) or pay the BIK tax (company car) if they did make them.

Lets be honest Avensis is a middle of the road choice in terms of cost and most buyers are price conscious. They are not competing with Merc/BMW who still offer >2L engines. I think it is good they still have a normall aspirated 1.8 TBH

They made a 2.4 petrol Avensis T25 but VERY few sold. Running a 2.4 petrol then prob cost less than a 2.0 now

the TSB covers up to end of Feb 2009 production.

The T27s were in dealers showrooms by December 2008 & no doubt they had built up launch stock - I wouldn't be surprised if they first started building T27s in the Summer of 2008.

So that's potentially 6-8 months of T27 production that may be affected.

At least Ford, Honda & Mazda stiil do 2.0 litre petrols.

It's the first year car tax that is the killer - the second year & after are fine.
