my P reg carina starts first time runs like a dream until it is up to running temp then it sounds as if the exhaust is blowing from the outside and feels as if it is missing. all leads etc have been changed HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ii fear it could be the front down pipe This short pipe part of the exhust system has a bulge in the middle which is flexible and it is that part of it that can blow?

thanks for your reply my mechanic said at the time when he changed the exhaust that it had all been changed. if this is the case and it turns out not to be the exhaust do you have any other suggestions as it only happens once upto running temp.

It sounds to me that when the engine reaches working tempreture one of the gasket seals or joints expands to the point of leaking i.e Down pipe gasket, the flexible seal that i mentioned just below that even though it is new, Or one of the push fit conection pipes of the exhaust system from there on ONly by jacking the up car and looking your selves are you gona find it
