Body Damage Repair Quote

As you all know, some fricken daft prune in a Range Rover skelped the side of me Rav back in December. THe police have done hee haw so i've taken her in to get a quote.

The boy who services the car know a lad who works at one of these auto repair centres. He's given me a cost of £250 for the job. I didn't think that was too bad considering the wheel arch and door need to be reshaped and painted. He's also going to extend the job to further round the panel where some nugget threw a stone at the car...

Your thoughts... good price, bad price????

However, the boy is going to have to remove the triangular shaped stone chip protector from the bottom of the door. anyone know where these can be puchased??? Kingo, is this one for you???

Cheers.

I think the going rate for a spray job is around £200 a panel. I remember your damage being a bit more involved. A bit of panel beating, filler? Spray, rub down and buff.

Sounds like a good price to me.....these places can work wonders these days.

That sounds like a fair price to me, provided the work is sound. Might be worth having a look at the chaps work.....................

As for the chip protection film, if the genuine one is prohibitive you could always make your own from a piece of 3M Ventureshield film. It is sold in smaller sheets for motorbikes and a strip 10mm X 1000mm @150 microns is about a tenner to give you a guide. [i'll PM you a link to a supplier]

Just create a template from the old one before it is destroyed.

Sounds very good - perhaps too cheap? Does it include everything and VAT?

My local happy chappy quotes £100 a panel. Then the panel painter manny next door won't get out of bed for less than £1000, altho his work is good. £250 is a good price.... ask to see recent work??

The reason it's cheaper than normal is because the boy is doing it as a homer. Price was all inclusive.

In terms of quality, the mechanic I use swears by him which I guess has to count for something. Not seen any of his work tho.

Thanks for the link davrav
