94 Celica

Hey Guys,

I'm planning on jumping on the Toyota bandwagon in a couple of weeks by buying a 94 (new shape) celica 2.0GT

Any hints/tips on what to look for when buying??

Also have seen reviews saying that the engine isn't up to much, is this true and if so what are the best (cheapest :D) ways of getting an extra kick out of it.

Cheers Guys

Hi, I currently have a '94 import which is a very good car but the engine is a bit flat on low revs. Still quite rapid though.

Can't really suggest much over getting the cam belt changed. A smart set of wheels and lowering really makes the car look cool.

This is the longest I've kept any car which I think says enough.

Hi there ... I own an import 94 celica .. the give the car an extra boost I would recommend getting an induction kit and a full exhaust system ... it will allow the car to be breath better and also sounds gorgeous!! Fensport or TDI can help you in both departments. .. trust me I have done it to mine .. it's WORTH THE CASH!!:o

Have been looking round for induction kits to fit but have come up empty, will give fensport a call.

Do 17's work well or should i push it to 18's :D

Full TRD body kit.

standard 180 bhp

all this up power to approx 240bhp

Hi people

first off, don't go to TDi, those guys know sweet fa about anything as far as I can make out :(

Second, who told you the engine wasn't up to much? Tell them to wash their mouth out with soap and water! It's one of the best NA engines around if you ask me. Of course you can never get great gains from an NA without cams etc but you can always drop in a 3S-GTE at some later stage :)

Joey: have you dyno'd at that 240bhp? I would be impressed/surprised if exhaust and induction got you those extra bhp.

18s: the celica arch was designed so that TTE could run 18" wheels on the tarmac stages in the WRC so whack em on. I'm fitting some as soon as I get round to saving the £$£$ required, thing is I'd rather spend it on go faster mods instead... :D

Hey Joey,

Sounds like you got a pretty nice car their, similar to what i am planning.

Which ehaust did you go for, the super or Hiper drager?? How much did the full system cost, TDI looks around 600 quid with fitting!!!!!

Also you got any pictures of the bodykit??

Cheers mate

Hi, im running a 95' GT with the same engine as yours, thee only mods iv added were a HKS exhaust and induction kit, a set of blitz spark plugs and some magnecore leads. Iv had it dyno tested at 191BHP, dosnt sound like much of a rise but there was a considerabe improvment in low down and mid power. Thought bout uni chip but unsure of the gains so just decided to go with NOS instead. I dropped mine by 40mm on a set of 17"s and with the kit it looks really low.
