Daytime Driving Lights.

I wonder if someone can answer this one. On another forum it was stated that as an EU Directive, from 7/02/2011 all new cars registered in the UK must have daytime driving lights coming on with ignition. My wife's Rav was registered in September 2011 with no daytime driving lights. Does anyone know the answer to this?

It's all vehicles that go through homologation after that date. In other words if the particular model was on sale or designed/had approvals before that date, then it doesn't have to have DRLs.

The RAV had all its homologation before Feb 2011.

This type of introduction for new models is quite common for EU legisation.

Toyota seem to be retro fitting DRL to models that wont be replaced soon. The Avensis, Prius and Land Cruiser V8 have had a face lift to include them.

As the next Rav will be available in 2013 (therefore having DRL as standard) I would imagine the current model will not have another face lift.
