1998 Stereo Change

Hey everyone, been searching the internet, but not had much luck.

I recently bought a 1998 Celica, and want to either change the whole stereo, or just the Speakers. Just after a bit more power really but unsure if the head unit would need changing or not? The current stereo in there has a cd player attached, I'm pretty sure its the stock one, but again unsure.

I don't really want to go to somewhere like Halfords and get over charged for it, and would quite like to give it a go myself.

Has anyone had any experience doing this? Ive had a look around online for directions on replacing Speakers, but cant seem to find much and had a look on this site for a while, thought I would register and ask :)
