Handrake Problems 2003 Rav 4

Hi there,

New to this site, but already found it very useful in attempting to replace the handbrake shoes

on my daughter's RAV 4, specifically anchormans very well written piece.

I have managed to dis-assemble and re-assemble the drivers side disc and replace the handbrake shoes

(nearly lost my sanity in the process). The handbrake seems to be working fine.

However I have hit a problem I can't seem to solve namely with the rear shoe hold down spring(the one with the bendy pin).

Upon re-assembly it seems rather slack even though it is in the right place and its cap is catching on the inner wheel studs in the hub.

I pieced the whole thing together in the hope that the hand brake bedding in process would sort it out but an audible

scuffing sound can be heard from aforementioned rubbing of rear hub.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how this can be fixed as I've had this to pieces about three times already

but I can't seem to stop it happening.

Cheers

Rob
