Smart Start

WHen i first purchased my 1.6 auris with smart start the salesman gave me advice how to use the smart start he told me to press the start button twice the dip the clutch then press the start button again.no problem there but if you should stall the engine as ive did untill i had sorted out the best driving position you can get in a bit of a muddle to restart.

But the best way i find is to just press the clutch pedal then the start button, which is a bit quicker.

but you dont have the instrument panel warnng lights showing before you start the engine.to check if they are all working ok.

Also there is a very small delay after pressing for the engine to crank compared to the other method.

Anyone else noticed this?

If there is a problem then you will probably get a warning triangle, and TCS related lights flashing.

I rarely let the lights on the dash do their thing unless i'm fighting with the seatbelt that always seems to get twisted.

when turning on the ignition i like to see all lights that show up are all showing up

with my mondeos 12 panel icos showed up and stayed on just long enough for me to count them.

like to be to check all is ok on the first start of the day.

Its a pity there is no oil pressure warning light provided with the optitron system only shows if you have a pressure fault, but say there is a malfunction with it.and you get no warning.

at least with a light you know if its working each time you start your engine.
