Fantastic In The Snow!

I don't know about u other aygo owners but I have been so impressed with how my little aygo has managed during all this bad snow. It's been amazing, passing many a stranded more expensive luxury motor. Also coping with hills and slippery inclines. I had to drive 25miles to work during the time the snow had settled at over 5inches and it made it without any issues..... Just wanted to sing its praises really!

Yep, skinny tyres and front wheel drive is a great combination if you dont have 4x4. My mates old Fiat Cinquecento was a popular snow wagon.

Wave at the BMW/Merc's with wide tyres and rear wheel drive laugh.png they cant move!

I found that out last winter, absolutely brilliant and left a lot of 4x4's behind...

Light, front wheel drive and skinny wheels.... Can't be beaten!

Great fun too :)

Every thing is not rosy. We have had a lot of snow here in Sweden for the past two weeks and I notice with my wife,s Aygo that being light means that it has not so good grip on the snow and ice (inspite of the new skinny winter tyres!). It tends to slide easily and unfortunately, the ESP kicks in rather late to correct the slide. Just the other day we got in to a slide while cornering at low speed and realised that ESP kicked in rather late. Luckily, there was no other car on that road. Some people have compared it to the BMWs and said that it was more able than the BMW in snow. I do not know which BMW they are comparing it to but my 3 series (E91) from 2009 has always performed exemplary in ice and snow with Nokian tyres, even better than neighbour's new Volvo. The newer BMW with ESP and what not are completely different cars as far as driving in ice and snow is concerned (with winter tyres ofcourse). I would choose them to Toyota Aygo any day, if I was doing a high way driving in icy condition..

Different snow? I must say that the AYGO is great i the snow, it does not do anything you would not expect, its got good grip ( normal tyres) and corners without fuss. I drive a BMW 3 and 5 estate as a works car and its *******, I would not like to take it on the back roads, lucky I keep it on the main roads, so twitchy! If Only the aygo has the same power! :)

Just goes to show that Driving is a very subjective sensation. We therefore agree to disagree! :)

I have had no problems with my Aygo when the roads are cold but must admit I take my wife's RAV4 when there is snow about.

When i was driving in the snow and ice etc even if i was driving slow i would always slide with my standard wheels on. (i don't want to scrape my alloys) ESP never kicked in or even my ABS. Was more than a tad pished off. :)

I found that actually inducing a slide was more beneficial as i could actually control it. It might just be my driving but having a 318is as a first car i know how to control a skid as it used to happen more than a few times in the wet.
