4Wd Not Engaging, But Its Not The Vacuum

Recommended Posts

Have a 97 ssx, 5sp Surf. Has been brilliant the last 8 months. Recently, it went through some water in 4wd and when it was disengaged the 4wd lights kept flashing. Local mechanics didn't know, but they checked vacuum and solenoids - all seemed good. Did a long trip, and lights went out and 4wd continued to work. Went off road, no probs, went on the sand, no probs, but the next day, 4wd wouldn't engage and hasn't since.

Found a good mechanic and he says that the electric motor on the transfer case is not working and thinks it is electrical, but rather than spending ages checking every switch and wire, wanted to know if I could find a wiring map.

Does anyone have one? a link to one? or knows what is happening?

A couple of days ago, the light was off, and after going through a bit of a rough road on our way home (we live in the bush), the 4wd light on the dash, flashed on and off, and finally stayed off.

Any Ideas?
