The 1st clip I saw looked perfectly normal!... The 2nd didn't as it looked like there were 2 blips on the gas pedel when it was started as said by Mr Cab!... I would personaly change the fuel filter (If its not been done) and see how you get on...

And run a can of BG 244 through, eh Taff ? :D

Lmao!... You wouldn't catch me using that BG244 Snake oil :horse: Hahahahahahahahahahaha :lol2: :naughty::laughing::yahoo:

In addition to the clip I took this morning I have taken another just now before leaving work - the vehicle has been stood since 8.00 a.m. (now 3:45 p.m.) and the temperature has been around 1-3C all day

Does this still look like 'normal' smoke that may just require an oil change?

I think as I have only had the car 13 days it is something that I need to discuss with the Dealer (Not main Toyota dealer but a franchised Honda Dealer) - becuase if there is a fault the burden of responsibility should be with them

P.S.Apologies if this is annoying for the more experienced 'forumineers'

BG244 in the fuel helps clean the injectors out!... But dont drink the stuff or it'll turn you into a God dame s*x God!... Just like me! :gun_bandana::doctor::wub:

Yep, I did blip it a bit on the second so not a fair comparison - The drive to work is about 20 miles - a mixture of dual carriageway and decent A roads

I think i'm worrying unecessarily......and just need to stop 'flapping'

Your drive to work is a good distance enough for her to warm up. It would be worth calling the dealer who did the services and ask them to confirm replaced the fuel filter and did the work the book suggests.

Nothing wrong with tipping a tin of injector cleaner in.

What warranty did the dealer supply out of interest?

The toyota dealer (FRF Toyota - Swansea) is in Wales where it was always serviced (all 4 stamps) - Is it possible for them to confirm that a fuel filter was replaced.....surely there going to say yes as it was a 40K service?

As it was a Inchcape fleet car it went to auction in Northampton where it was purchased by a Honda Dealer in Leicestershire where I purchased it from 2 weeks ago

Current Mileage is 41700

Last Service 40800 on 10/10/11

I got the dealer to put 12 months warranty on it so it has a RAC Gold Warranty until the end of Jan 2013, but your obliged to report anything just in case a minor issue turns into a major mechanical problem

Well you would assume its been serviced, but as a lease car dont assume the lease company had the fuel filter done if they knew the car was coming off lease in a few weeks time. It could of just had an oil and filter. They wont pay for stuff like screen wash and brake fluid changes. Its your choice but its not hard to ring the dealer and confirm.

The warranty is peace of mind, a puff of smoke on a cold day with a diesel car would be a but extreme to report IMO.

I would personally call that excessive. My 2.2 has never produced any smoke on start up and I have had friends follow me when I have put my foot down, and nobody has ever said that it smokes.

Does yours have a dpf ?

Ermm... yeah.. Good point!

I keep forgetting the 2.0 doesn't have one.

. Is it normal to get a puff of blue'ish smoke starting the car in the cold after the car standing for a period of time - after the inital puff there are no other signs of any smoke

Stu does the smoke smell of diesel or burning oil ? they do have different smells.

Hi all - i've decided that the puff of smoke I get is minimal and acceptable - the car doesn't smell in any way and I have e-mailed the dealer in Swansea about the services let's see what come's back

I think we can park my issue for now

Thanks a lot 'forumineers'
