Clutch Bearing Noise

Yesterday I noticed my Auris clutch bearing making rattling noise (it is gone when clutch pedal is pressed). It in not very loud but I guess it wasn't there before as I just have noticed it. I know few people had that issue and my question is how bad was the noise before you took any action? Toyota wants to charge me for checkig the car if they don't find any faults..

I took my car is as soon as I noticed, they denied there was a problem, the rattle persists. Put down as a characteristic of the car by MrT so I have accepted that view as well. However, should it fail I will be arguing a case of not fit for purpose and they will recover the costs whether they like it or not.

How long have you had the D4D?

Does the noise go away by just gently pressing the clutch pedal, that is taking up the free play clearance, or does it only go away when the clutch pedal is fully depressed to the floor. If it is the latter it could be the gearbox idler gears, this is quite common on some vehicles and generly does not need any attention.

In my case it is the latter, again one of the reasons Toyota told me. Either way unless the OP is experiencing issues changing gear, a moving biting point on the clutch pedal or some down right odd noises there should be no reason for concern :)
