Value For Money?

I am looking at a 2008 VVTi XT5, at a dealer. One owner, auto full history, 26000 miles, and in very good condition. The price, however is 16995, which I think is a bit steep. Do any of the forum members have any thoughts, on the value of the car, and also, did the fuel consumption improve with the later models. I have a 2003 VVTi, here in Spain, which is thirsty! Thoughts please!

Even without checking any trade price sites, Ainsley, that sounds bluddie expensive. That's the kind of "back here WINTER price" one would expect to see, but I presume you don't have a winter price hike time over in Spainshire, que...?

Bit confused if its a UK car or not, but its 14k tops to me if it is. And at 14k it looks a lot of money for an 08 petrol car.

You can get a later 2009 car for less, albeit an XTR.

An 07 25k miles XT5 is 13k.

Yes, it is a UK car, I am looking to replace my BMW coupé, at home, and have been very happy with the RAV that we have in Spain. There is a very different psyche here in Spain regarding sales of cars. Almeria being an historically poor area, the Spaniards buy a car new and keep it till it is scrapped, or if they want a change they give the car to a relation, and rarely trade them in. Consequently there is a dirth of seconds hand cars, and my 2003 auto "Sol" is worth around 9000€!

Anyway, thanks for the advice we are back home in a few days, so I feel I have a basis for negotiation. I do like the XT5, as it has all the toys, and I do want a sun roof, but that is not available on modern cars. Petrol rather than diesel as we are very low mileage users in UK.

Just for interest Dale, would it be worth offering my 2008, really well speced 330i coupé, 28000 miles, as a straight swop. A dealer previously offered £ 14500 as a trade in against a 2006 XT5

If you dont ask you dont get!

Its all a question of how long they have had the RAV for, and if they are a Mr T dealer it might be more difficult as they wont desire a BMW and will trade it on. If its an Independent garage they are more likely to be more sensible as it will be a nice piece of stock.

Depends how quick you and they wish to do a deal, winter prices will start to calm down on 4x4's soon.
