Mixing Synthetic Top Oil With Semi Synethic Service Oil

Hi All

When the car was serviced at 40K Toyota used part no T08880-8045 which I think is a semi synthetic SAE 5W-30

Toyota spec sheet reads:

"Toyota Genuine Motor Oil Fuel Economy SAE 5W-30 is suitable for petrol and diesel

engines, both turbocharged and naturally aspirated, requiring an SAE 5W-30, API SL, ACEA

A1/B1-04 or CCMC G5/PD2 – it also meets all the requirements of ACEA A3/B3-04 with the

exception of the HTHS / shear stability viscosity. The oil offers an excellent level of protection

against black sludge, wear and oil oxidation together with the highest level of fuel efficiency."

I am OK using a good quality synethic like Mobil 1 ESP / Castrol Edge as a top up oil or do I stay on a semi synthetic

Some will say don`t mixem and strictly speaking they`ll be right but I would as long as it wasn`t much or often.

Doesn't seem to do any harm; Been doing it since I bought my Yaris!

That said, it doesn't use much oil throughout the year so I do it very rarely, maybe 250ml a year??

Edit: oops, typo! Doesn't, not does! :D

If it were my car I'd not mix the semi with a synth! even thought lots of manufactures say you can!... I'd drop the oil in favor of ESP over EDGE as C2 spec is what you want!... Edge isn't a C2 spec'd oil for the D-CAT!...

I can not find oil with such number "T08880-8045". I can find 08880-80845 which is TGMO Fuel Economy 5l bottle. I'm not sure if this is a semi synthetic oil. There are some online shops that say it is a synthetic motor oil, but there is nothing on the label of the bottle that can confirm or deny that.
