Wheel Cleaning

Are the alloy wheels on my 60 plate Avensis anodised? The reason I ask is that some brands of alloy wheel cleaner state not to use the product if wheels are anodised. Presumably the acid in the product will damage the wheels? It's probably safer to use non-acid alloy wheel cleaner. Anybody got any recommendations?

As soon as I noticed that some alloy wheel cleaners say not to use on chrome trims I stopped using it as I didn't want to damage the wheel nuts and Badge. I never let my wheels get very dirty so I just use the soapy water.

I use Muc Off (or some Halfords own brand), although it was bought to clean my push bike with it does a grand job of cleaning alloy wheels..

Totally agree, all I ever use on my alloys is neat car wash and wax on a small sponge (i use ones that are ready for chucking after being used in the kitchen and the abrasive side has worn). Regular cleaning is key. I wouldn't waste money on expensive cleaners which are nasty.

Use chemical guys redberry or valet pro bilberry (same product) no acidic but does a fantastic job!

Dont use Wonder Wheels on them as that stuff has so much acid in it that it'll burn right through to Aus! Redberry is good stuff! as said...
