Lowest Part Of The Car?

There's lots of snow on the roads now and my car's bottom is scraping sometimes. Obviously front bumper/lip isn't the lowest part of the car so it doesn't usually get any contact and therefore cannot be damaged. However there's lots of things under the car that may be expensive and get easily damaged, which wouldn't be nice. Does anyone know what's the lowest part of the car? Is the bottom designed so that I don't need to be terrified every time I hear scraping sound from below?

I heard twice something rubbing underneath the car when I got over few bumps , last time I lift the car up and I saw few scratches on a piece like a braket, situated under the tunnel where the exhaust pipe passes thru; that bracket looks very tough, is like a small shield. So, there is no reason to worry about...

Yeah, luckily there is metal... But snow can be icy and therefore very solid. It can easily cause some serious damage then!
