Wheel Spin

Hi, my wife has the 1.6 petrol and when ever she sets off from being stationery, the front wheels spin momentarily.

Is this her 'driving style' (she says not!)? Poor tyres or something else?

this has to be a prank???????seriously...but i will answer a car only wheel spins due to the drivers input so in short its your wifes

My husband has the same problem. It's called a heavy right foot.

On a more serious note have you checked your tyre tread depth and pressures?

On wet and slippery roads it is quite possible to momentarily spin the driving wheels if the tyres are getting worn or as has been said if the driver has a heavy right foot and is a bit sharp with the clutch

Buy her a push bike, or get her a bus pass. If she can`t master clutch control at a junction then she sounds like a dangerous driver.

What road surface is this on? If it is dusty or sandy (or dry with grit) the front wheels will spin very easily. The other explanation is she is on black ice and does't realize the car has no traction control.

If it is none of the above tell her to be less of a burk and drive properly! Not even bald tyres wheel spin constantly unless you are doing it deliberately... or your Auris is a 1000bhp monster!

Surely the best way to sort this to see how its easy to spin the wheels when you drive the car.

If it does not happen when you drive the car normaly then the wifes at fault

If it does happen then then its the tyres or possible fierce clutch.
