the salesman in Toyota told me the updated diesel model has a BMW lump,is that right?

Yep BMW engines will be fitted to some newer models, I belive the rav will be BMWed :D

In this instance the salesperson is wrong, the current Avensis uses a revised ( new injector, Turbo & emission control systems ) version of the previous Avensis "AD" series of diesel engines 1AD = 2.0, 2AD = 2.2. The referance to BMW is misguided, Toyota have signed an agreement with BMW for 1.6 & 2.0 Diesel engines which will debue in the new Auris due late 2013 and then subsequent new generation vehicles from then on.
