Iffy Fuel ?

Well........dare i say it.......

My Rav seems to be ok now............

Apart from VSV & EGR valves cleaned & Cat inspected.

I've done nothing more than change fuel.

For the last 7 years i've used T**co deisel, and the Rav has been fine, until the last 3 to 4 month's where i've started to have hesitation issue's.

So in the last month or so i've started to buy Esso at £1.38 liter,or BP at........£1.55 liter...ouch !,but in the last week or so the Rav has been fine, just let it warm up in the mornings.

Then power all the way,no hesitation.

I guess its taken a few weeks for all the supermarket fuel that was left in the tank to get through my system & now i'm burning ' decent fuel ' ....all is well.

So far anyway.....see how i get on for a few more weeks.

After years of using supermarket fuel, it comes as a nice surprise to find that there is better!

From what you describe, it sounds as if your fuel system really would benefit from a clean-out, to remove deposits. Get hold of some Millers Diesel Power Ecomax, or Wynns Diesel System Treatment. Initially, use either one at 1:500 (80ml into 40 litres) for a couple of tankfuls. Then dose at the normal rate of 1:1000 (40ml to 40 litres) now and again, or all the time if you prefer.

There's also another system cleaner on the market, which I'm sure someone will remind us of!

Welcome to the Land of Decent Fuel.

Chris

PS The standard (BP) diesel will do you fine - I.M.O. no need to go for the super stuff.

I've just put some Wynns Gold something or other in mine, cost me roughly £10 from Maccess or £15-99 Halfrauds, add full bottle to a tank of fuel supposed to last about 3000mls, will let you know but obc is showing 47.8 at the Moment (its never been very accurate though) ....Stew PS.... BG 244 gets excellent write ups but about £23
