Looking around at brake upgrades I see that the Paseo shares the same pads as the non-turbo Tubby's.

Like here.

So I'm just wondering if any other brake bits & pieces will fit - like monster discs or something? Any ideas?

the pads for toyotas are the same for the seo, carina, corolla, old mr2, starlet , but the disks and calipers are diffferent

Mmm sounds good! - anyone know the Seo's spec?

The 96-99 Starlet Turbo has the same discs as the UK spec Paseo

Diameter- 253.9mm

Overall heigth- 43.5mm

Thickness- 18.1mm

4 + 2 fitting.

To be honest I've just fitted Stainless hoses and thinking about drilled/grooved discs from Black Diamond with a decent set of fast road pads and I reckon that'll be enough of an improvement ;) The hoses alone make a helluva difference

I was thinking along similar lines, how much were the hoses?

Which is better - Starlet Turbo disks or grooved Seo one's?

slotted and vented rotors provide more stopping power, and will help the pads to last longer because the venting allows the brakes to keep cooler, wearing down the pads less and if they were hot. I'm upgrading to Brembo rotors this summer, and they sell them on eBay here in the states, so I'd check on that if I were you, Si. Brembo is supposed to be the best of the best.

They're the same disc mate ;)

Black Diamond list drilled, grooved or a combination of the two

The hoses set me back £96 inc p+p from Fensport, but the rears were incorrectly packaged so had to send em back to be changed :( Good thing is, I'm considering the GT Turbo rear disc conversion this summer and the hoses are the same

Like Paseo2nr says, Brembo are crackin quality too

Do you think just the disks & pads would feel like a good upgrade? Not sure I wanna do the hoses as well...

For an instant improvement, I'd go down the hoses route, personally.

(providing your calipers are in good nick). Any expansion in your existing hoses will lessen the improvement in replacing discs, pads etc.

If you wanna see the quality of Black Diamond discs look here:clicky but you might have to register

This was daves 3rd set of them they all did the same.

Get 3g's mate they are allot better

As for the hoses the ones that Fensport sell are wrong for a starlet turbo....

Conatct Dave and read this:

If you want ones that will fit with a rear beam conversion.

Don't like the look of them discs :o

Used EBC on my bike and never had any probs so may stick with what I know work

Do those hoses fit the 96-99 GT Turbo aswell? Cos the electronic catalogue I used reckons they are female fittings both ends for this and my Seo. The ones I received are the same fittings as the link, banjo fit one end and female the other <_< Had to send em back for exchange

Daz if you look though on a GT the lines go from steel to rubber to steel then to rubber again so there is 2 rubber lines each side. The set that dave gets replaces both rubber lines and the small steel one with one single braided line.
