Adding Rear Speakers?!

Hey everybody,

I'm new here and got a question:

I own a year 2000 Yaris (1 lt, Made in Japan). It has the most basic audio system, not even RDS, so the simplest one. And only two Speakers in the front. Now I'd like to add two back Speakers. My question is: does anybody know whether the radio built in my car can control 4 Speakers? Or is there a way to check it out somehow? Also some help for "getting the radio out" would helpful, as I have no idea how to take all that plastic out from the consol :)

You can cry with me: some ***** stole the Toyota sign off the back of the Yaris :crybaby:

Well, I hope you can help me!

Take care,

Tomiki

my basic toyota cd player in my yaris has 4 Speakers hooked up to it. the 2 dashboard mounted ones and the 2 front door Speakers. if i adjust the fader from front to rear the door Speakers are classes as the rears and dash speakers as the front. so i presume yours would also?

as for the guide of taking it out, there is a post somewhere on here taking you through it step by step. thats what i used.

cheers

Danny

Hey Ryan! That sounds good! Where do you live? I live in Hungary. Here's my e-mail address (tomcsanyi@yahoo.com), let's discuss the details there! If I don't need a fortune to pay the mailing... :)

Other than that, I took the radio out and took even the radio apart. I found only one power transistor in it, and also a slot for a second one. So I think I have a too basic radio, that can manage only two Speakers. So I guess I'll try to buy an other power transistor, put it in it and then maybe I can handle two more Speakers.

Bye all! Tomiki
