How Much Can You Squeeze In A 32 Liter Tank?

What is the most you have put in on a fill up?

I didn't brim it but let the nozzle click of twice with it full inserted into the neck. I got 33.24 liters in, must have been running on fresh air nearly :disgust:

Only filled it up 3 times so far and the most was 25 litres, guess I can go a bit more once the light starts flashing.

Maybe the quoted 32 litre tank is the actual tank capacity and the filler pipe is extra? You must have been pretty empty though! :)

That's what i thought, 1.24 ltr in the filler neck is possible.

Easily 6 litres more than the tank holds,

but a 32 litre tank is a 32 litre tank.

The tank and the pipe to a brim makes a big difference if the car is sitting exactly level and a little difference between winter and summer.

Not worth totally brimming IMO, but high enough to see does not appear to waste any.

The petrol in filling up stations in the UK is still winter fuel at present, this neans it may be a slightly higher octane than in the summer and giving the best MPG you will get. (95 ron will always be a minimum of 95 ron but can be of a slightly higher ron)

If you have filled up, you should feel safe in having 7 gallons minimum onboard.

If you are getting 42mpg, then you will need fuel by 300 miles.

45 mpg, by 310, and 50mpg gets you at least 350 miles.

I usually felt safe at 350 miles that i could still go another 50-60 miles after having brimmed it.

If unsure of filling stations i would be filling up after 300 miles or getting ready to hypermile it..

Remember that the Fuel pumps are designed to be cooled by sitting in the fuel, run the tank too low and over heat your fuel pump, do this many times and replace your over heated (burned up) fuel pump.

I usually fill up when i have two bars left about 2.5 gallons of fuel, this is plenty of fuel to keep the fuel pump cool.

I do doubt that even a manufacturer from a Nation that had pilots that inspired the film Tora Tora Tora would install a fuel pump that might overheat when running with only .5 of a litre in the tank.

Brilliant Design and Innovation IMO,

even if some claims might need taken with a pinch of salt & we must allow them some slack..

"Fuel level indications"

"to ensure a consistently accurate read-out is given"

(over 66 mpg for 'each' of 6.5 ltrs or even running it empty & 7 litres was just wishful thinking surely!)
