Replacing Rear Discs And Pads

This is a follow up to my "squeeky wheels" post and my thanks to all who replied.

After much searching through back posts on this forum I have discovered that this is a" known issue"with toyota and was usually fixed under warranty, by the dealer. If anybody can tell me what the nature of this "known issue" is and, what was done to fix it, please let me know.

Outwith warranty and, in the dark as to said "known issue", myself and friend(mechanicly literate) took the wheels off to have a look, and discovered that the discs were getting tighter going through the pads when rotated, easing up slightly then getting tight again, my more mechanicly minded friend diagnosed warpped discs. Further confirmed when I mentioned that the vehicle had been stationary for approx. six months previous to my ownership, (ha ha says he, corrosion on the discs, warpping ,squeeky wheels.) the remedy, renew discs and pads. This apparently is a straight forword job requiring nothing more than a new set of discs and pads, a free weekend, and beer n curry for my mechanical mate, so... tell me oh wise ones.where do I purchase such items, eBay,or online, through this wounderful cliub, and what make should I be considering,I am by no means a rich man but I do believe you gets what you pay..so dear people any suggestions will be much appreciated

when it comes to brakes go for a name brand- safer that way. There is a lot of cheap crap on eBay.

If you go to a motor factor/parts supplier ( not Toyota) and see what he can supply- or just phone.

Go onto the MTEC site and take a look at there set ups that quite a few forum members have, including me. The drilled and groved do a fantastic job with there supplied Mintex pads. But Ferodo pads make a better option in my view...
