Avensis Tr - Choice 2.0 Or 2.2 D 4-D 5 Dr - 2008

I have a Black Avensis 2.2 D 4-D TR 5 dr hatchback register March 08 - owned for a year now. I really wanted a silver Avensis but at the time couldn't find one. Very pleased with my car.......but have just seen a silver (Silver Fern?) 2.0 D 4-D TR 5 dr hatchback at a Toyota dealer - registered June 2008 with 48K miles.

Can anyone advise if the 2.2 diesel is better or worse than the 2.0 model. Don't really know what the difference is apart from the Toyota specification that shows top speed, power, insurance group, CO2 emissions etc being greater with the 2.2 than the 2.0.

Also looking at the dealers vehicle description, Silver Fern looks like silver with a hint of green (as name suggests)

Any comments on these topics?

Cheers, John

You will probably gain a few MPG from the 2.0, but loose a little bit of performance.

Personally the fact it will probably cost £1500 to change colour is a barmy thing to do, unless your not planning on Px'ing.

Better the Devil you know I say!!! If your car is going well then I'd keep it, as the other silver leaf car could be a problem as you dont know the car...

I understand what you are saying but I once and only once owned a black car ... never again especially when I'm a bit OTT when I comes to keeping my car looking at it's best, my Decuma grey Avensis is bad enough but it does look good when it's polished ;).

Pete.

Black is a hard colour to keep looking good, but not sure about silver

I find the paintwork not especially deep, and swirls are picked up easily, but from a distance all is good

I did try the full monty of cleaning, clay bar, and wax, thought I could work round the car one panel at a time, but just takes more effort than I thought, and surprising how quickly dirt is picked up as well

Thanks for your comments - think you may be correct. Have made an offer (Toyota dealer accepts negotiated offers) for my car in PX plus £750 - dunno wether that a mad idea. Anyway Silver Leaf doesn't inspire me so think I may stay with what I've got. Car runs great so no real issues on that front - just a few minor scratches and paint chips from when bought a year ago. Can get some re-spraying done for about £500 by a really good body repair shop (actually a Vauxhall main dealer body shop) So might do that when I'm feeling flush! Anyway - think that one of you thought that the 2.2 is better than the 2.0 model which was was one of the questions. As you said "better the devil you know" Someone mentioned about silver paint - I had a RAV4 GX (52 plate) in silver which was a superb colour.

Thanks, John

Use one of the new ceramic polymer sealants such as OptiCoat or Ceramishield and you`ll find a vast difference in how long it stays clean and easy it is to keep that way.

I like the power of the 2.2 over the 2.0ltr... My T-180 can go like a rocket if I wanted it to! But I dont, as I like the feeling of having the power there if I need it from the 200bhp oil burning love machine! :afro::drool::yes::in_love::pepsi::chinese: :chinese: :nerd::laughing:

Pete.

Interesting Pete, i only ever have black cars and they take some pain doing 40,000+ miles a year. Clean for a couple of hours at a time is all parts of the fun biggrin.pngwink.png
